| The State of CA is floating a “pay to play” for public government records. A bill introduced by, Blanca Pacheco, a Democrat out of Downey CA would do such a deal with no limitations on HOW MUCH they could charge for a request. Do they work for us, or do we work for them? This goes against freedom of information of all gov’t records, as some cannot afford fees. This type of thing would not be necessary, if our state and city governments were transparent about their actions, instead of being secretive about everything. Backroom deals need to be found out, and if our representatives know this, they will continue to do their business under the shroud of secrecy. This fee would be at the state level and was shot down pretty quickly. Elyse Lowe, the director of the DSD is all about “assistance fees” already If you ask too many questions they will threaten to charge you. The DSD is a rouge agency. |
